I mailed the visitor form back a month ago and I called to see if they had received it right before Christmas and they said their background system had been down for 2 weeks. What if he gets transfered before I get approved? Will he have to send me another one because they wont be able to notify him of my approval at a differant facility....

geeshhhh.......well lets hope you get approved before he is transfered. Then, you DO NOT have to send in a new form. Once you are approved...you can visit him anywhere he is sent. It only took 2 weeks for me to get approved. He was released March 21 of this year and is now back in for a simple violation! I was approved in 2 days....hahhaha
He will be home the end of January! He was in WASCO for about 4 months on a 5 month sentence.....they moved him to Victor Valley (one of those community prisons) ......he should have stayed at WASCO....with less than 30 days to go.
(I visited him in WASCO...but Victor Valley is tooooooo dang far, I am picking him up when he is released)
I hope your loved one is sent somewhere close to you....

Well first off Im sorry that silly boy violated in any way....I will be out for blood if I see any sign of that =) But thats good news that he will be out shortly. Im sure you werent to excited losing him through the holidays. And again I think thats kinda strange how they move them all around but Im sure they have reasons that we dont know about. I thought for sure I would have been approved by now but me nor his mom have had our app received yet. And let me just tell you both our backgrounds are cleaner than ICU =) Im sure with the whole background check system being down has something to do with it. So you think that if he gets transfered than we will have to send out new forms? Or will they just follow him? I think I am going to post and see what feedback I get with that.

coulter- It's my understanding that once your approved to visit him it will follow where ever he ends up, you do not need to send in a new form. As far as the time frame with him seeing his councler, let me tell you our experience. My fiance went to reception in Delano in the beginning of August. He saw his councler the first week in September and due to over crowded prisons he is still there waiting to transfer. Almost 5 months now. I hope this helps!

Hi Coulter;
I am pretty sure also that any visitation form will follow - I had sent mine in when my son was in Quentin, he was notified after he transferred to Wasco & sent the approval notice to me - I call Wasco about once a week, & talk to someone in the mail room, or the operator on duty - just to find out how the weather is, etc., my own way of feeling closer to my son, dumb but helps me deal. I did speak one time to a Sargeant in the visitor office, who asked me for his CDC #, and he said "oh you must be ____", "yes" said I, surprised! I think if one calls and is REALLY nice, use good manners, etc., they are nice back! You might try calling the visitor office & give his CDC # and see where that gets you. GOOD LUCK!!! And I am glad he saw a couselor - mine has been waiting now 2 full months - & nothing! I'm still trying to figure out why he was sent there since it all 'happened' in No. california & Wasco is waaaaaaaaayyyy down there. I did see him Christmas Day & the next day for 1 hour each day, it was great and settled my mind some. I, of course, made the mistake of commenting (to a CDC lady) "there were no paper towels" in the ladies room - I was thinking I would get some and put them in there, but NO - my visitor form got moved to the corner of her 'desk' and lucky me got to wait another hour.....by the way, the CDC Officer told me "use the toilet paper" (to dry my hands). Believe me when I tell you I haven't ever been treated with this much distain. Thank goodness for all of you and this site! I would have been a real nut case without this....Happy New Year to all!

Thanks Batmansmom for all your advice. I plan to call visitation just with it being the holidays has made it a little hard. Im sorry to hear that your son hasnt been seen for 2 months I can imagine the frustration you may feel. I was anticipating having to wait that long but I got lucky....Now Im sure like I have heard that it may take months to move him though. I will just be content when I get approved to see him because this whole guessing game I have had enough of. =) You just never quite know what is going to happen next and its rarely what we hope for. In his last letter he said that he heard good news about how he may be going to chino or norco....which would be really good because thats so close to me now but I dont think he realizes the odds of it happening. He sounded so happy for the first time on just the thought of that happening Im afraid when the reality of it hits its going to devastate him. From all that I have learned here it doesnt seem to likely he will get that lucky to be so close. Has anyone reading this post ever had a good turn out like that?

Coulter,
It is my understanding that Norco is for drug offenders and Chino is for violators of probation/parole. I could be wrong, but I read it on one of the many sites I went to before I found this one. When I was trying to find out the odds of my son going to one of them, so he would be closer. I am sorry I can't remember what site I read that at. Good Luck! Take Care and God Bless!

Thanks Lisa for that info....Jason was on probation when this happened so maybe there is a chance that he will go to Chino. When I had first came on the site it was my understanding that you didnt want to go to Chino though.....it wasnt a place you would pick. But unfortunatly I know I can wish and hope all I want but its out of my hands. Thanks for the info again....And good luck to you...Oh yah did your son end up getting close to you? If you havent found out will you keep me posted?

mine was sent to chino, the last time, on a new case and a violation...
actually, chino for a prison is one of the ezr ones..i think he had one lockdown in the year and few months he was there..and it was a very short lockdown..

Chino, is also for drug offenders they have a program there..

it could be a day to a more +++ once they see there counselor...it is just a matter of a bed opening, via computer, for his level or if he has any special conditions...

hope he mainlines soon!!!!
peace
francis

I hope he does also. He wrote me today and waiting for transpacking....they have him in a cell where level 3 are placed. He is level 1! I have no clue why he is there. He is going out of his mind. He is a first time/non violent ect....he shouldnt be in level 3 for any reason. We are trying to get a hold with his counselor in hopes she can shed some light. =(
