I was wondering if anyone knew what a parole eligibility date really meant. Does it mean that parole is actually granted (an inmate is released from prison) anytimeafter that date or does it mean any time up until that date arrives an inmate can/will be paroled?
MissDB- the parole eligibility date is the earliest date that your loved one can petition for parole. Parole is NOT a guarantee, nor a right in the state of Georgia, so they must petition the parole board to review their case. Most of the cases these days are running on a 7, 1/3rd or 14 year eligibility. Depending on who and what his/ her judge sentenced them to, and what their crime is, determines when they can FIRST be reviewed. (Parole eligibility) I'd be glad to talk with you more if you still have questions.
