Default Church Services at Polunsky

I have heard that since the inmates have been moved to Polunsky, that all church services are now non-existent. Does anyone have any information about this?

Default Spiritual Help for Death Row Inmates

Alright, did some calling and checking and this is what was told to me. There never was or ever will be a "formal" type of service for these men.

Reason:
1, We have to understand the type of crimes these men
have committed. They are rivals and if they were to be mixed together for any reason, then their will be fights and the prison officers would be in danger. The inmates use this type of gathering to get at other inamtes.

2. However, there are trained staff members and volunteers that do go to the individual cells and minister to them. This includes doing Bible studies, receiving sacraments (such as communion), prayer, what ever the inmate asks for.

3. Last but not least, I asked a question about what if an inmate that has come to accept Christ and wants to be Baptised. This is a policy that has just been implimented recently with Michael Moore who was executed 1/9/02. Once an Inmate has received a date, the Sunday before their execution, they are allowed to be Baptised.

This information came straight from the Chaplains office at Polunsky Unit.

To me, this is unacceptable. Especially the Baptised thing. I know it is each individual's belief on Baptism, however I feel that if an inmate wishes to be Baptised, he should not have to wait until the Sunday before they die.

It is hard to accept but at least they do let them get baptized it is not right but they could take it away and that would really be wrong.

Default Polunsky Chaplains

Hey, just wanted to share something with you from a friend at Polunsky....I had asked him about the church services and this is what he told me..

"I wanted to speak concerning church. First of all what you heard is true there are no attending church here. There are men who come out and, minister the word of God to us, who do Bible Studies, who do sacraments, as well as prayers.
And the Chaplain comes down if you send him an I-60 to request books or, just even to talk to him."

Now, I don't know about you guys but....people from the outside seem to care more for these guys than the Chaplains. They will come talk if you send them an I-60? What kind of ^(*^% is that?

(sorry for the language)

NOT ONLY DO THEY STRIP THEM OF ANY PRIDE THEY HAVE LEFT, BUT THEY ALSO STRIP THEM OF THE ABILITY TO MAKE THEMSELVES RIGHT WITH THEIR MAKER..... THIS IS A HORRIBLE SITUATION......

AS TIME GOES ON, THING WILL CHANGE. GOD WILL CHANGE THEM.
