Unhappy Is outgoing mail sealed by inmate or mail room in Florida?

Does anyone know, is the outgoing mail sent out by an inmate sealed by them or by the mail room?? My friend in Florida has sent two letters recently and both envelopes have been completely open and this concerns me, so I was wondering if anyone knows what the process is?

The mail has to be sealed by the mail room. If the inmate seals it it gets sent back to him and it's a mail infraction.

Thanks for this, so is there anything I can do as they are obviously not sealing it at all as the envelopes are 100% open.....

I know how you feel!!! This has happened to me some times!!! Maybe you could call his prison and ask to speak to the head of the mailroom ???

Just a thought.

Thanks Phil. If it continues I may do this, it's just so unnecessary and unpleasant :-(

liltoomean I've been thinking of you when I got my mail today.

Joey sent me a Christmas card along with a letter inside, and the envelope was NOT sealed !!! Fortunately, the letter was still with the card.

Sweetpea I will suggest that - it's a good idea. Phil, I'm right there with you feeling mad about this. Glad you got your card and letter from Joey though - that's the main thing that it arrived safely :-)

Sometimes the mail I receive is not sealed at all. But usually it just has a small piece of tape holding it closed.
