Visiting New Folsom

Hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone had directions to new folsom from san jose? also, are they picky in what you can wear? how is visiting on thanksgiving?

I'm in San Jose area also....I drive to Old Folsom. Not sure about new folsom but in old folsom you cant wear blue of any kind & no denim.

Hello to the both of you!! would you be able to give me directions to folsom? i tried getting some online, but i got a few ways, not sure which is the best? do you know of any hotels near by? I plan on going on thanksgiving but want to just arrive the night before instead of driving up early that morning. any help would be appreciated..thanks

I am visiting new folsom for the 1st time. My hubby says not to turn into old folsom. Go one mile futher???Jeannie

New Folsom is the first turn off the right on Prison RD. You can't miss it.

you cant wear anything revealing and you cant wear blue jeans or anythig that looks forest green. Baasically hun i would stay away from denim blue and green

does anyone know if you have to make appt. for the new folsom prison. Also is there a level 4 there?

Well, 1st things first. New Folsom is currently on lockdown due to a CO being taken hostage on Saturday. According to a message on their hotline, visiting information will be updated tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10, 2006. You can call 1-800-374--8474 and follow the prompts to the new Folsom Hotline. (1-1-3)

Before you do that, you should determine what group he falls into, since that is how they will address who can and can't have visits. (RE: Northern Hispanic, Blacks, Whites, etc.)

At New Folsom there are Level I and Level IV prisoners only. Old Folsom is Level II and III. If he is on a mainline you do not need to make an appointment. I believe the only ones you have to make appointments for are those behind glass. And that is when they are in "the hole" or protective custody. You can call the prison directly and ask to talk to visiting department. 916-985-8610. They will tell you whether he can have contact visits or not.
