Question What Holidays can you visit on....

I was wondering do they hold visitation on holidays...like thanksgiving....which is during the week or only on holidays that fall on the weekend? My guy said something about it at our last visit, but so much as changed since the last time he was there. I can't remember since he was so far away last year. Thanks,
Spikeswife

Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and I believe July 4th, but don't hold me to July 4th...there is one other day though, I am just not sure which one exactly. But, I know you can visit on turkey day and xmas day.

Yes, alot of changes, but those are still the same....for now.

Anjeweleyes is correct, those are the three holidays you can visit - extra days only if they fall on a weekday.

Thanks ladies, that's what I thought but wasn't sure if it had changed since he was in last time. It's still up in the air about what I'm doing for Thanksgiving but I will get to see him on Christmas. So Thanks again.

At FSP/ACVP it depends on who you ask, but if the holiday falls on a weekend, like Christmas did this year, you can visit both Saturday and Sunday. At least I did! But I didn't ask the Warden...

I understand that UCI has set visiting days. So it may be different there. I don't have any experience with the lessor facilities.

I thought you could always visit both days (Saturday & Sunday). Sometimes I go on Saturday and decide to stay over and visit on Sunday also. I just thought that was the way it was at all facilities.

In the case of Death Row, it's one visit every 7 days. At FSP, it's an either or situation. At UCI, the guys have to select a day and you are stuck with that.
We ran into a snag at Thanksgiving where a friend had called for a Special Visit on Sunday. I was there Thursday and Saturday. Fortunately, the guards told me before I left that there was a problem with the other person's paperwork and the extra visit was denied so I could call and let them know.

There are guys at FSP who can have visits both Saturday and Sunday. Like Butch, they are short timers. That's not a world I know anything about. Count your blessings!

Default Thanksgiving this year

Just to be sure are there three or four visiting days for UCI (Raiford) this year at thanksgiving? Is the Saturday also a visiting day, or is it just Thursday and Friday? I am just a bit confused!!

good news ladies, they recently added several holidays. july 4, memorial day, labor day, martin luther king day. if it fall on a sat then you can visit on fri. if it falls on a sun. then you can visit mon. also thanksgiving is thur and fri. and of course the regular days are sat and sun. it's great for me because i work weekends and could hardly ever see him. now i get to see him almost every other month.

Regular visiting is permitted on the following holidays:
  • New Year's Day
  • Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (third Monday in January)
  • Memorial Day
  • Independance Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day (November 11th)
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving; and
  • Christmas Day
If any of the holidays listed above falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as a holiday. If any of these holidays fall on Sunday, then the following Monday will be observed as the holiday.

If he is in Mental Health then you may want to check. At my honey's location if they are in Mental Health they have to be in a "special program" to have holiday visits. That stinks. DOC website states holiday visits can be had(and doesn't limit to normal or mental health)
