I did time at the Corcoron SHU, I know that the mainline isn't all that good. Out of the two, mule creek is probably the better. The information posted by CDC on the programs in each prison is very misleading. ---------Ken

Joeys mom,
I only live 15 miles from Mule Creek. I have never been there but when I pass by it doesn't look all that bad, not like some of the otherones I have seen.
I am not shure how much I can help you because I am still new to all this but if you need anything please feel free to contact me at cowgirlup68now@aol.com and I will do what I can.
And when you go see him and need to take a breather afterwords just let me know maybee we could go have lunch or a cup of coffee.

I'm going to give you a little heads up...
The info you get from CDC websites regarding the prisons HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED in god knows how long....don't count on that to be accurate information...if you want accurate, download the weekly intake reports from the CDC website. OR call the prison directly and ask them for:
the mailroom - info on what you can/cannot mail
the visiting LT - visiting hours/clothing/information
the recieving & release - info on packages or vendor mailings (books, subscriptions, tv's)
Have fun

Corcoran State is listed as #2 of the 5 worse prisons in CA for Inmate abuse at the hands of some of the C/O's and "other" Personnel. There has been an on-going Investigation for the past 3+ years. From what my son has told me and experienced and my searches, investigations, and conversations with quite a few people in charge, I would advise you to tell your loved ones to just follow the rules (as they should), not make friends with or trust other Inmates, treat the Guards with respect no matter what they do or say, share any special goodies they get from home, and just basically mind their own business. Never put yourself in a position where you would owe another Inmate anything. Just keep a very low profile. And, Pray!
