The Minnesota Correctional Facility-Faribault, 1101 Linden Lane, Faribault, Minnesota 55021-6400, is a medium-security, level-three facility housing adult males. A level 1 and 2 minimum-security unit is also located outside the secure perimeter. The 1989 Minnesota Legislature initially approved opening of the facility by authorizing funds to convert portions of the Faribault Regional Center for correctional use. Population is 1,233 (3/1/4).

The facility includes ten remodeled buildings used for living quarters. One of the buildings has been adapted to meet the needs of the department’s geriatric and special needs populations.

A variety of work, vocational/academic educational, and other programs is offered. MINNCOR Industries include wood furniture manufacturing, truck refurbishing, laundry, cleaning products, and subcontract work.

Education programs include adult basic education, literacy, and general educational development (GED). Vocational diploma/certificate programs contracted through South Central Technical College include cabinetmaking, upholstery, painting/commercial drywall, floor covering installation, carpentry, computer certification, small business management, drafting, and facility maintenance.

The facility also has a treatment unit for alcohol and other drugs.

Hours of Visiting - Minimum Security

Minimum Security

Visitors wishing to visit an offender of minimum custody must register at the visiting department and then drive their vehicle to the minimum unit (about 4 blocks). An officer will escort visitors in and out of the unit only on the following hours:

Thursday and Friday

5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday

9:00, 10:00, 11:00 a.m., 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 p.m.

Arrive at the visiting department 15-20 minutes prior to the pick up time to ensure enough time for registration. After registration you must wait in the lobby until 5 minutes to the pick up time before driving to the minimum unit.

Directions: 35W south to the first exit to Faribault (Hwy #21). Go south (right) from the exit ramp. Go to third stoplight and turn east (left) onto Division St. Go to 6th Ave SE and turn south (right). Go to the next four way stop and turn east (left). The first road to the right will lead you into the parking lot of the visiting building. Park on the south side, away from the fence.

Visiting Regulations - Please read the Inmate Visiting Information prior to visits.

There is no visiting on the following State recognized holidays:

· New Year's Day

· President's Day

· Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

· Memorial Day

· July 4 (Independence Day)

· Labor Day

· Veteran's Day

· Thanksgiving and the following Friday

· Christmas Day
