The Southeastern Correctional Institution seeks to provide offenders of felony convictions within the State of Ohio a safe, efficient, humane and appropriately secure correctional institution, while maintaining dedication to the protection of citizens of the State of Ohio and the local community. Mindful of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's initiatives of re-entry, community service and victim reparation, we seek to instill in offenders an improved sense of responsibility and the capacity to become law-abiding members of society.

Unique Programs
  • Youth Affairs: SCI youth affairs is designed for the inmate population to mentor with troubled youth from the juvenile courts and school OWE classes. The juveniles come into the institution once a week and participate in community service projects to help needy families, shelters, and the elderly by providing clothing, food, and cards. Currently the six inmates participating in the program talk about attitudes, drug and alcohol abuse, and their families to the youth. Group discussion helps emphasize the importance of communication, the negative aspects of substance abuse, accepting the consequences, and taking responsibilities for their actions. From January through March, over 100 juveniles participated in the program.

  • The residential Sex Offender Program is for those inmates that have committed sex offenses in the past or the present, and for those who are not in denial and want to work towards maintaining stability. The program consists of three phases, which lasts from a minimum of two years to three years. These phases are the Sex Education and Addiction, the Relapse Prevention Plan, and the After Care. Before an inmate can move on to the After Care phase, several modules in social skills and victim empathy must be completed. Once these are completed the inmates then participate in the After Care phase which last about six months. After the six months of mandatory attendance has been completed, the inmate elects to attend fewer sessions a month.
