The Dayton Correctional Institution seeks to provide offenders of felony convictions within the State of Ohio a safe, efficient, humane and appropriately secure correctional institution, while maintaining dedication to the protection of citizens of the State of Ohio and the local community. Mindful of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's initiatives of re-entry, community service and victim reparation, we seek to instill in offenders an improved sense of responsibility and the capacity to become law-abiding members of society.

Substance Abuse Treatment Continuum for Offenders (SATCO) is a substance abuse treatment program that began in June 1999. This program is operated in conjunction with Wright State University through its Substance Abuse Intervention Program. The project provides institution-based substance abuse treatment and community-based case management services to offenders under the supervision of the Department. The SATCO treatment continuum emphasizes several critical areas of offenders' functioning, including substance abuse problems, errors in thinking, and deficits in basic skills and resources needed to sustain oneself in the community.
Cage Your Rage is an anger management program. The program helps offenders recognize their angry feelings, learn their causes, and deal with them in a new way---responsibly. Offenders are provided guidance on how to control aggressive behavior and are given alternatives to acting out violent behavior. The curriculum focuses on dealing with self worth, stress management, and teaching the fundamental tools involved with controlling emotional behavior.
