Yes they can get mail regardless of the unit.

I'm confused I called the co4 of that unit and she said if they are in mental health watch unit.. they can't have calls, visits, or even write.. yesterday has been 3 weeks.. I even told her I have wrote a letter every week. She said when he gets moved they will be forward to him. And I told her I put money on his books last week she said he'll get that when he gets moved.

Sometimes they consider certain things for mental health watch falling specifically under threat to self or others and if that is the case ( not saying it is in your friends case but if it is) they will often really restrict movement and what they allow in or out of the cell - do not putting the phone in for calls or taking him out for calls not giving anything extra to him like mail or materials to write bc they consider most things a liability during the time he’s under watch

That's very true.. But sometimes I feel like isolating them for so long may make it worse.. it's different for each person.. But if it's been 3 weeks.. and he's showing improvement or whatever they watch for they can maybe like give him a letter from me. And see how happy it makes him. And maybe talk to him. And then go from there. It's just very stressful.. He don't get out til 2019

No I agree w you support is important and complete isolation can make it worse sadly prisons and jails tend to go longer not shorter on the concept of being cautious and visits w mental health staff can be far apart

I don’t know if this is correct but this is what my guess would be keep in mind i could be totally wrong - when they are somewhere they can’t have certain things they normally could they put those things into what they call the inmates long term storage box(s) to get when they are back where they can have it or when the guards need to access it like sometimes the guards will get nail clippers for a quick second and then put them back in the box my guy has said. My guess is his mail is going to end up in there and just be waiting for him - but that’s just a guess...

It's entirely possible that they would be kept in a mental health/medical unit until they could be sent back to general population.

Hi,
My loved one was moved to Rast Max thanks to one too many fights, on 3/31/17. I haven't received a phone call yet, even though while in Buckley we had phone calls all the time, but he's now 5/5 hence everything changed. I usually get one letter a week but that's always been like that for the past two years. I haven't heard from him in almost 3 weeks now, no clue what's going on and I get really really worried; he just completed HepC treatment successfully so he's still weak.
One thing I learned is that we can't expect too much on the outside. He's changed after he went to Rast. I just want him home, 49 more days.

I hope you hear from him soon. There is nothing worse than not hearing from them and not being able to find out why.
I was able to talk to my man more when he was on Buckley than I do now he’s at Barchey. Sometimes the only reassurance is the work detail being updated if they do have a job.

Yes i check every day to see whether anything has changed but with him being in max chances are slim. I just want a letter....I get into my head rral quick for no reason at all.

It’s literally the only thing I think about. Every worst case scenario from maybe something has happened to him or he’s unwell to “he’s dumped me!” even though he was clearly still in love with me less than a month ago!!! Then he’ll call after 2/3 weeks no contact and he’ll be like “Nah, I’m good. Just been real busy with paperwork” or waiting for money to go on the phone! And I’ve spent a few weeks making myself ill for nothing!

Still have not heard from my loved one. I called the mental health number and left a message with them. And then I kept calling and calling. Friday will be two and a half months since I've spoken to him. I also sent a letter tomorrow in hopes that he will get it at least
