Hi ! I don't know about virginia but in Indiana rumors just go around. my husband heard the same thing. None of it is true. I am sorry to inform you of this but sometimes in jail they hear stuff and then pretty soon by the time it gets to the 1000 person everyone is believeing it. If you look in this forum you will find othe women have the same problem. Here in Indiana my husband heard that and I asked our attorney and nope he never heard of anything like that

I am from California and read parts of Title 15 regarding work or education credits that just took affect. It depends on the crime and your loved ones record both in and out of prison but as I understand it some are offering 1 for 1, being 1 day credit for each day an inmate works or attends school. I called directly to prison where my son is incarcerated and spoke with 2 people who verified some are being offered this. My suggestion is to call and speak to your loved ones counselor or anyone there who might know. In my sons case, he does not qualify even though he works full time in the prison and attends classes as well. His charge does not allow any additional time credits. Good luck to you.

There is a law that was proposed but has not been passed. The Bill is SB75. I have information on it if you would like it. I can email you some documents that I have been working on. My family and friends are sending letters to legislators, senators in Virginia. If the bill gets passed it's retroactive to everyone under the current ruling. Prisoners could get as much as half of their time reduced.

A website to check out is:
at the words "Bills Resolution" enter SB75 and click go.

This will give you the summary of the bill.

Please help us in writing to your local legislators for passage of this bill.

I want my sister to come home sooner rather than later!

Thanks

I read an article where kain was bringing up 90 early release for 1000 non violent prisoners. But it has to be passed by the general assembly and he tried to do that the beginning of this year. But as usual the assembly turned it down like everything else that has to do with lowering sentences. So the chances are slim they will pass it when they come back in january.
