Default What's up with victorville USP?! Prison on lockdown

Anyone know anything that's going on in victorville usp? Haven't heard from my man since wensday. If I call the prison they say there are no visits till further notice and no on of course answers the phone. I'm starting to panic. :0/

They've been on lockdown since Wednesday morning. My guy was able to email me just as they were being locked down. Some have speculated that an incident occurred involving a C.O. If so, they say the lockdown could last for awhile.

Thank you so much for the info. Now I'm curious as to why no one has gotten snail mail out? Why aren't they sending thier mail out? What are they hiding? Because June 22 when those inmates were killed they were only on lock down for a few days and we got mail right away. Something crooked going on there if u ask me. My prayers are with ur man and all the inmates in that hell hole.

Mail, both in and out, often gets moved to lower priority when there's trouble. I doubt they're trying to hide anything - perhaps reading mail more carefully, but that would be because they are looking for something.

I am surprised to even get mail from him!! It got sent off on the 17th and just got here today!! Also he said he never got my mail which I wrote to him on the 14th

I just received a call from my husband who is max. He said there was a fight with a guard, but lock down was just lifted.

When I still call, why does it still say Medium I is still on lockdown. Was that just for USP and not Med I?

VICTORVILLE — A Bureau of Prisons guard was uninjured after being assaulted by an inmate with a "prison-made weapon" at the federal penitentiary Friday morning, authorities said.
According to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons statement, an inmate at the United States Penitentiary Victorville, in the 13700 block of Air Expressway Boulevard, allegedly assaulted a Correctional Officer inside a housing unit shortly after 9 a.m. The inmate was reportedly armed with a weapon made in prison. The area was quickly secured, and the officer was not injuried.
No other staff member or inmate was injured, and the inmate population was returned to their housing units.
The prison was placed on limited operational status, and the FBI was notified. Authorities said the prison will return to full operational status after a preliminary investigation is completed.
At no time was the public in danger.
The prison houses approximately 1,450 high-security male offenders.

Exclamation Victorville USP LOCKDOWN DAY 12

The prison is on lockdown based on an incident between an inmate and guard. According to a report there was a weapon involved but neither are injured. It's been 2 full weekends now though and they are still on lockdown.

I haven't had an issue receiving mail during the lockdown. I've got at least 4 pieces of mail and they've been on lockdown almost 2 weeks. It takes mail 5 business days to get to me. So no delay outgoing.

Yes I am in the UK.My LO is no longer in Victorville , I visited there a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the harsh reality is that if there is a lockdown the prison is closed for visiting and they dont care how far you have travelled. I always phone and check visiting status the day before I leave the UK however its always possible that something can happen while you are on your way there.
I feel for you missing your visit it must be heart breaking. I have been lucky so far but its always in the back of my mind. Hope you get another visit soon.

Welcome to Prison Talk and to the federal forums. Some bop prisons actually answer their telephones, and will provide limited information about lockdowns, but many of them won't.
