Thumbs up My moms first night at FPC Danbury

Hey

I'm new to posting but not new to this forum... I've been lurking for about 2 months since my mom was sentenced for 366 days and assigned to go to FPC Danbury. I want to say thanks for all the info thats on this thread. As you can imagine, this has been a trying time for my family and I.

Yesterday I drove her up there (about an hr from NYC) so she could SS. I was worried all night but I finally got to talk to her today. FYI, thanks to the thread on calling collect, it was a life saver till her commissary kicks in.

She told me that she was fine and that the there were a group of inmates that gave her a care package with toiletries when she arrived on site. They supposedly do this for all new inmates since SS is usually always on Friday and the commissary isnt open till Tuesday. She says can roam freely without any restrictions on the grounds and the food is decent. She's in a dorm with 3 other women and two bunk beds. Due to her medical history, she wont be assigned a job for atleast 60 days till she goes through medical. She's not scared any more so I'm relieved.

If she passes any more relevant info to me, I'll post so others can be aware.

Thank you everyone for your help.

I'm glad your Mom settled in so well. The beginning of anyone's first time in prison is extremely daunting. New people, new rules (by the thousands), prison itself, and on and on. As she becomes more comfortable with her new surroundings, life will become even easier for her. A bop camp is the best possible situation, so she will do very well there.

Dburns

Thanks for the insight on visiting. Once I get the application and approved , I'll be trying to visit about once a month. We're very close and I don't want her to think I don't have her back.

I spoke to her last night and she's bored as hell lol so I mailed her 2 books via amazon.

You can send her paperbacks directly from home too. Reading is what got me through a decade in prison.

Oh, and crossword puzzles.
