need bridal shower ideas

My well meaning friends want to have a bridal shower for me and help me celebrate my upcoming marriage which is nice. Due to the unusual circumstances I can't imagine a traditional shower. Kathie wants ideas for gifts and it just sounds sooo corny to say the things I could really use like stamps, AT&T gift certificates etc. since this relationship is run by calls, letters and occasional flights.
Any ideas??

I think it is sweet to have a bridal shower! Here's a few ideas for your "unusual" circumstances ~
Barne& Noble.com or Amazon.com gift certificates
Disposable cameras (you can take pictures and send them to your man)
Stationary sets with matching envelopes
Picture frames
I bought a guest registration book for my bridal shower and had everybody sign not only their names (had the fancy feather pen) but also sign a message of best wishes. You could do something similar and mail it to him, maybe using parchment paper.

your friends sound really wonderful...and i bet you could tell them the truth of what you need...seems like they support you...period...and are there to make you happy...so why not ask them for these practical things and maybe ask them to surprise you with a few special "girly" things just for you?
