Default Corcoran Memorandum on Packages, Special Packages, and Books

This memorandum is dated April 9, 2004 and was given to the inmates of Corcoran State Prison.

Due to the State of Emergency Lockdown, I would like to request permission to only retrieve from the Warehouse and Mailroom all Inmate Special Purchases, Quarterly/Annual Packages and books for inmates housed in 3A Gym, Level One, Firehouse, 4A/4B SHU, ASU, 3A03, and 3A04.

I would like to recommend that all items for the other Housing Units be stored until the storage capacity at the Warehouse if full. When the Warehouse storage capacity is full (in approximately one week), I recommend that all Inmate Special Purchases, Quarterly Packages and books be suspended.

R&R currently has approximately 200 packages stored and the Warehouse has approximately 400 packages/property stored. All the packages at this time are stored inside a secured area at the Warehouse. Once the storage capacity is full, the packages will be stored in an unsecured area of the Warehouse, where the inmate workers could have access to them. We need to minimize the number of packages we store due to the possibility of damage by rodents/insects, spoilage of food due to the weather warming up and theft by Inmate Warehouse Workers. If approved I will contact the vendors to stop; processing all Special Purchases, packages and RTS all books for the inmates affected.

(Sergeants name will not be given)

***The Warden did approve this request***

You know I've been trying to order a package also but I already called the prison and all they tell me is that the reason they are not accepting packages is because they are on lock down have you tried calling them?

I believe ASU is another term for Ad-Seg, which is Administrative Segregation.

This means that anyones loved one who resides in any location other than mentioned, will not be able to recieve any quarterly packages or books from now until the lift the memo. I personally believe this is just another way to further punish those that are in the hole or classified as Ad-Seg.
