Default AT&T Correctional Facility Value Plan

I don't know if I sound naive or just way outta line. I've been fortunate that my inmate doesn't bog me down w/a high phone bill, we "write" alot. Anyway, I got on w/AT&T & they now have this "Correctional Facility Value" plan. Its supposed to be somewhat cheaper than regular collect phone calls. So, maybe someone might want to try that, OR someone could guide me to something greater to try. He calls from Mont to N.Mex. I haven't seen my new bill yet.

What is this Correctional Facility Value plan? I wonder if there's anyway we can use it in Michigan instead of CBS?

Deb

Deb, I have heard of this plan. Please call AT & T customer service and ask them about it. I remember that you pay a small fee, such as 4.95 for the plan and I believe it's 15% off of your collect calls.

If you will, please let me know or post what you find!

Default AT&T Correctional Calls Value Plan

AT&T Correctional Facility Value Plan is only available for AT&T collect calls so if the facility does not use AT&T it will not do you any good. In order to sign up for this plan you will have to subscribe to AT&T for your home long distance, then for a monthly fee they will offer you a 15% discount on your collect calls. That may sound pretty good until you realize that AT&T's collect prison calls are about $18 for a 15 minute call and even after the discount you are still paying $15 per call. This maybe ok if you only take 1 or 2 calls a month but if you talk 1 or 2 times a week you are spending way more than you need to.

As Jo36 recommends, check out Tele-Net's banner on PTO. If you are receiving 1-2 call per week Tele-Net may save you 50% on your collect calls. The average 15 min call with Tele-Net is only $4.00.

helo all yes i am in wis my b/f in montana and costs 40 dollers for 30 min to talk from wonderful AT&T well i just found out not to long ago iowa let changed there policy and they can get sent a prepaid phone card or the numbers anyway if can,t have plastic. anyway so i thought we either got to find out how the prison phone things work should not matter how they call as the calls can be screened anyway so i got a number for at&t thought i would give it again so we can all keep calling and complaining i called and the first time they said if i signed up with them i could get 15percent off collect phone calls and the second time i called they said i could get nothing goes to show you how many games they play. anyway the phone number is 1-800-281-8400
but i think somehow going to have to go through the prison itself to get phone company changed or so we can send calling card but i do not know who i would even begin to start calling to do this if anyone knows will you please let me know my man is in maximum security there so don,t know if that makes a difference or not take care all peace and love mary

i do not know how texas works but if they have at&t there toll free number to talk to them about getting a discount is 1-800-925-7800 if they have that i would tell them you need a discount and do not let up till they give you one as i know they can do 1 said i got one didn,t so just keep talking what i would like to see for all of us is iowa just changed there phone policy now you can send them a calling card number and they can use that to call you and that is the way they all should be. as its crazy what we pay yes tel-net is good but still a calling card you can get for 5-6 cents a min and there is no reason i see that we can not use them as they can still screen the phone calls if they wish i am going to e-mail god knows who but someone or call mt prison to get the ball rolling and see what i come up with will let you all know peace and love mary
