I just called the jail & found out that my boyfriend (who is on probation) was picked up on a bench warrant. What does this mean? Why would the judge call him in on this, i.e. what are the reasons why bench warrants are typically issued?
He had one of his probation court days two weeks ago, but his probation officer never showed up. They told him that she would be in touch with him about when it would be rescheduled - he wasn't given an actual date. I wonder if this is all tied to that?
I am freaking out here b/c I actually thought he was doing pretty well, staying out of trouble, etc. for almost a year now.
A bench warrant means he failed to appear in court. You could call or go down to the court, run his name and find out what case he failed to appear on. Once he appears it will depend on the outcome of the case if he gets released or not. When someones on probation they can't post bail.
