I don't do Facebook. So does that mean that if someone else does do Facebook they can see our post?

No, we are only using FaceBook as a way of getting people to visit this site.

No posts from here will be posted on FaceBook, nothing will be shared other than announcements from the site.

An example of that would be letting everyone know that we have designed a new postcard or when we want to let people know we are having server problems.

This is a separate thing altogether; but some people like to add PTO to their FaceBook information listings.

Hope this sets your mind at ease.

Hi, This is probably a stupid question but why do we want people from Facebook to come to this site unless they are family or friends of inmates?

People from Facebook may be family and friends of inmates but not be aware of PTO. This is a way to let them know about the site.

I am so glad prison talk has joined facebook. There are a few prisoners that I so want to get in touch with. But I don't really know how this works. Do they have access to a computer? How do I get a message to them? Can I upload pics. of their children for them? I am a new user and don't quite know how to do this. HELP!

This is the only official facebook page that is linked to this community:

Thanks for the heads up, though.

Welcom This site does not let you connect directly with the inmates it is more of a social support site. There are differrent areas of this site that will give you information on many facilities and allows you to ask questions about specific things that maybe one of the other members know about. It also helps you deal with having a loved one incarcerated ( husband boyfriend wife girlfriend....ect) there are many ppl going through the same issues this site lets all of us connect. I hope this was helpful you can post the names of who you are looking for in a designated area or simply ask how other ppl have found inmates???? There are many ways to get very good information from this site Wishing you the best..... God Bless

I didn't know that PrisonTalk was on Facebook. That is such a good idea. I know other women who have husbands and boyfriends that are inside and need a place where they can feel safe to vent and get advice. This was definitely a great idea. I am about to go to it now.

Ok thanks for letting me know. There is another page on FB that is called Prisontalk and has the same pictures from this site on it. It was there long before this one.

This question doesn't make ANY sense. ANYBODY is free to come here especially if they have a spouse, friend or family member in prison. Or if they just write to incarcerated people. There are people that don't write to anybody behind bars but they come on here out of interest and to be active here but not in a bad way. They are still welcome. ANYBODY is welcome here as long as they are not here to cause trouble or start drama. So if anybody from Facebook comes here I would think they have someone incarcerated or are just interested/curious in this community. Also the reason they made PT a Facebook page is to get the word out about this site and to let people know what this site is all about of course. So if anybody is in need of support or interaction with others that are in the same situation then they can COME ON OVER.

I think it's a good idea for people who are comfortable sharing this experience with everyone else. I on the other hand am not, especially as I have co-workers on my page, it's just not a good idea for myself personally. But great for PT for connecting with FB.

Understandable. I have family and co-workers on my facebook too. And there are things I dont want others to read etc. Which is why I just dont write anything in there, that I dont want anyone else reading. All my chatting/talking is done in the forums.

Inmates do not have internet access so they do not have any opportunities to get on Facebook while they remain incarcerated. There are some inmates known to have Facebook pages but those are maintained by someone who knows the inmate, rather than by the inmate themself.
