I just got off the phone with the Alabama Parole Board and they informed me that they are currently on June's docket (as of August 29th), which makes them at least 3-4 months behind schedule right now.
The Victim Notification Department is running way behind schedule. If your LO's case involves a victim, they must notify them of the parole hearing and give them the option to be in court on that day. Also, the victim MUST send this notification back to that department to keep things on schedule. So if the victim does not send it back, that could push your LO's parole date back even further, BUT they do have a certain amount of time in which they must send it back before they go on with the trial (due process). However, that is quite a long period of time.
Just wanted to share some up-to-date info on what to expect for those of us with LO's coming up for parole in the near future. All we can do is be patient and keep writing those recommendation letters/e-mails until the trial. Good luck to everyone!
If you have any questions, this is the number to call:
