Contraband is anything that is not allowed per policy and/or law: cell phones, drugs, anything considered a weapon...anything that is not allowed for whatever reason is Contraband.

Every state may be a tad different in their Statutes, but here is Ky's:

520.050 Promoting contraband in the first degree.
(1) A person is guilty of promoting contraband in the first degree when:
(a) He knowingly introduces dangerous contraband into a detention facility or a penitentiary; or
(b) Being a person confined in a detention facility or a penitentiary, he knowingly makes, obtains, or possesses dangerous contraband.
(2) Promoting contraband in the first degree is a Class D felony.

He'll have a write-up and depending what it is, could get hole time. Not a certainty, but a possibility.

he needs to stop doing that. it CAN affect his parole. they will thumb through that sort of stuff when his hearing comes up. so tell him to find more constructive ways to occupy his time. most of the guys don't like doing it, but it will look good on paper and that's what counts. BOL.
