Default contest

:argh My husband is at CSATF/SP. It is a five hour drive for me and we have a 14month old daughter who is not allowed to have visits from, so I have one find someone to go with me to babysit and then I need them to have a reliable car ,cuz ours is not. I have only been able to see him 3x since november when he finally was transferred from SQ after being there in PC for 8 months, so things have been very hard on us. For the most part my visits have been okay at CSATF/SP but it is such a drive I am totally drained for about a week after.

Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, or Corcoran 2. I can let you know anything else you may want to know.

Begonia,
Where are you coming from? Have you thought about leaving your daughter with the babysitting service at the prison? I think its called "Friends on the Outside" or something like that. You know, at the trailer where you change your clothes if the CO's say you have to change?

I am coming from Santa Rosa, and I really do not want to leave my baby with someone unfamilar to her or myself. She is only 14months old and I am a stay at home mom, so child care is something that I go about with caution.

Okay, I am putting in my vote in this contest by posting for CSATF, AKA Corcoran 2, AKA New Corcoran.

My son is there.

We live 7 1/2 hours away when there is no traffic through Sacramento and we can sail right on through! I take my daughter in law and their 2 babies down there and we visit when we can, but not nearly enough. The cost is prohibitive --- a day off work for travel, then the motel, meals or ice chest, gas, car repairs, wear and tear on my car, vending machine money...it costs a small fortune just to go visit for Saturday and Sunday. And then we do this grueling drive back after visiting on Sunday, so I can drag my butt to work on Monday. I do know what you mean, I am absolutely exhausted for at least a week after making that trip.

Usually CSATF is not much of a problem for visiting, but a couple weeks ago, the staff gave us nothing but grief...change your clothes....change your clothes again...all of that crap. They were in a mood or something....neither of us was dressed badly, but no matter what we went out to the car and dug out of the suitcase, it wasn't quite acceptable. We spent nearly an hour making them happy. And mind you I am an old church going granny and a prude, and I dress like a nun, so it shouldn't have been a problem, ya know?
GRRRRR!!!!!!

Family visiting for my daughter in law and kids went really well. The staff was polite ---even kind---and very helpful. Of course who wouldn't be when a young baby-faced wife with 2 screaming infants in her arms and enough luggage for a football team is checking in Really, they were very kind. And both my son and my dil told me that the whole weekend went well. I sat in a motel room most of that weekend, waiting to drive everyone home on Sunday after the regular visit....again, it cost a small fortune. But hey, I read a good book! (What else was there to do in a Motel 6 in the middle of nowhere!) Hey Begonia, I could have been babysitting for you that weekend, huh?
Us gals visiting at CSATF need to get highly organized!

I do have issues with mail at CSATF, that we could discuss WHEN we win this contest and get our own subforum. The mail room makes me absolutely bonkers much of the time!!!!!

But I guess if he has to be behind the wall somewhere, at least CSATF is clean and a fairly new building. Heck in Reception at DVI, he had to fight the mice and cockroaches for his lunch on a daily basis. So at least there is not that to contend with....ah, the little blessings....

I went to visit over this past weekend and it cost a small fortune but luckily my friend that drove paid for the gas and took care of our daughter. I got through processing on saturday with not hitches but sunday was a different story. I was on a tight schedule so I was a bit uptight. first they said I couldn't bring in my car key cuz they said it was a remote but its not, my friend takes it into SQ all the time. then they said my shorts were to short, I wore them saturday no problem. They let me in but not without a hassle. Then we got our visit terminated which was actually okay cuz I had to leave anyway to make the long drive home so my friend was totally exhausted at work the next day. I may not be able to get down to see him for another couple months which is very hard on us both. I wish he were closer. This has been a huge strained us in every way.

He is in A yard ! He has made a good group of friends so far and had no write ups , he has been there since Nov.03 and before that he was in reception at SQ beginning in June 03 before that they had in evaluation that began in March 03.It has been a long road so far but I think we are on downhill making our way to the finish .
