Default Package items

Hey everyone.. this may sound like a stupid question.. but my babe sent me my first letter since he arrived at Downstate. He listed the things he wanted and among them was a lighter and ciggarettes... are they allowed to have lighters?? That seems crazy... Also, how do u know if a deodorant has alcohol in it, where do i look, would it be a weird name in the ingredients list? Help me out ASAP, i have to send this out tomorrow, Monday, morning! Thanks a million

Hi! It's me again lol The cigs are ok, but I don't know about the lighter. As for the alcohol, check the ingredients label, it'll say it on there, it is a little tricky because there are some weird names for it, but I can't remember them right now. There's not too many that don't have alcohol. I think I read in one of the posts that old spice deoderant doesn't have alcohol. And I beleive it has to be hermetically sealed too. Again I give you the advice to call the facility (get used to it, that's always the best way to check, ever facility has different rules and regulations for everything from packages to visiting) I used to have the facility on my speed dial LOL

Haha.. your such a great help! I mailed the package out this morning.. I called first and lighters are definitly no (figured that)... and as for the deodorant, the package room guy just said ta check the ingredients, and from what i could see there isnt any alcohol in it, who knows. I did buy the old spice, and for his lotion, soap, and the deodorant i had to buy double or triple packs at Walmart because the bundles were the only ones in that plastic seal. We'll see what gets through, other than that he just wanted lots of snack food n candy.. he's just in reception so thats about all they can have. Im sure he'll be happy to hear from me, his letter sounded lonely!

Oh yeah and oh my god, over night delivery is sooo expensive. He asked if i'd 24 hr rush it just in case he got transferred anytime soon n it was like $50!! Plus the $100 that i spent on the package items... even locked up this boy is expensive! Thankfully for my wallet he wont be allowed packages in shock! Thanks Again!!

Overnite shipments are expensive and does not save much time
Normal UPS shipments from New York to New York gets there in 2 days max
sometimes 1 day then you wait for the package room to get it to him anyway.

Hey ladies, i have another frivolous question about allowed items that i thought i'd just post here and maybe get a response tonite (otherwise i can call the prison tomorrow).. Adrian wants a nice soft rug, i know from the DOC list of allowed items that it can only be 3'X5' and solid colors only, but can it be any color, or do the color restrictions go for rugs too? Thanks so much

I dont know about the lighter deal, but as far as deo goes, i always bought my boyfriend Old spice, the one that is in red, make sure it has the little seal on it or they won't let it through ok.
