Default He never got the books I sent him in prison!!!???

It's been almost 2 weeks already. I paid for a 2 day service with UPS, they delivered them right away. Last Saturday, when I was at the visit they said nothing had come yet, that sometimes the post office holds the packages (???!!!!) They keep telling him that there is nothing for him. Has this happened to any of you? Does it mean that I paid for books, my account was debited and they can't tell me where those books are ???!!! When I tracked the package on the ups site it gave the exact time, date and name of the person who signed for the package. Still, they say that he has nothing!!!! i printed a copy of the ups page and the amazon.com receipt to show them in person on Saturday that we are not making this up!!! I'm sorry I had to vent, I'm so pissed!

Hi Mamota..!
Sorry this is going on!! Geez!! The mailrooms/package rooms seem to be getting bad(worse) everywhere!
At Wyoming a month or so ago, my guy's package sat for three weeks undelievered. It wasn't until I could get the UPS tracking proof to him that they 'found' the package. It was right there in the package room..they just didn't deliever it. Recently a book, just one, I sent and it should have taken two days to get to him, took over two weeks.
I am surprsied to hear that happening at Collins, though, it isn't a big place!
Maybe the books got sent to media review...that happened once to us when my guy wwas there but it didn't take too long to get them..a week maybe.
I would put in a call to the senior counselor and find out who to speak to about the missing books.
Never worry about venting! We all need to at times

yup-- i had this happen to me. it took about 2 months to get resolved. turned out the mailroom sent the books back to the publisher because they didn't package them exactly right.--however-- that has only happened one time and i am happy to report that i have purchased about 50 books from amazon out of the used books for HUGE discounts and they have ALL been successfully delivered since that first incident. good luck to you.

Thanks Caprione. I'm surprised because since he's been there I've sent many packages of books and this never happened before. But as you say, on Saturday I am going with the ups tracking receipt and the amazon.com receipt maybe it will appear by magic then What we go through....

To all my fellow sis and bro at PTO when you pay for 2 day or next day you are paying extra for nothing cause your love one still receives it as if you sent it as first class mail cause it just has to get the delivering PO within those dayz not your love one so once it get to where ever they pick it up from they can hold it as long as they want. I'm sending this not to make you more up set about the mail situtation but to help you save money MCI already beating us in the head and there is nothing to much we can do so we need to spread infor. to help one another save as much as we can. coming from someone who worked in the system for 12yrs. Peace

Sorry to hear of your problems. I have to agree with ladycee though, no sense in paying for two day or overnight service when they will get it just as fast with first class. Always ship with some kind of tracking number though for just such an emergency.. Have your man fill out a claim form, he can get it from his block CO. Essentially he is requesting reimbursement from the state for damages. He should list the contents of the package on the claim form and indicate the tracking number of the package, the date and time it arrived at the facility and who signed for it. The administration will have a sargent investigate and and the facility will either have to pay for the package (include shipping in claim also) or what usually happens is the package will mysteriously appear with some kind of area 51 ufo abduction like story. Either way, he gets the package or the $$.

Thank you all for your help. Well we finally did get an answer yesterday. The books are "in review" that's why apparently it takes so much time. I still got him some books yesterday. I try not to let these little things poison my life. He was really upset by that. I told him not to worry even if they got lost I would still get him those books even if I had to pay again until we found out what happened. I'm glad that we finally "located" him. Like I said the fact that he is in there is already too much, so I really try not to let those "extra" things bother me too much... Thanks for the tip, I'll never send overnight or with a 2 day service again.

Glad the books are found! Yes, sometimes they send 'em to 'media review', probably because the COs want to read them!! lol I think it's a good attitude, Mamota, trying not to let things that happen hang on to you. Otherwise we would probably all be basketcases by the time the guys get home. I think it's a little easier for us to 'let go of it' than for the guys because they haven't much of a way to vent the frustrations and not many other things to dwell on to get past the issue, but they need to do the same, let go and look ahead.
Hugs,
Caprione
