Default Cousin on DR....should I write him?

My cousin is on DR. He's been on my mind alot lately and I haven't talked to him in years.I really want to write him but I'm at lost for words. I see that he has a penpal ad up. Do you think I should write him? What do I say? I want to talk to him and let him know that I'm here if he needs me because pretty soon he's facing execution . HELP!!!!

If your heart is telling you to write him, then by all means, write him. Speak from your heart when you write and offer the kind of emotional support that you are comfortable with. The words will come to you and if he responds to your letter, then base your response on what he says and if he wants to continue writing. My best thoughts are with you.

I would suggest that you get him a nice card and just tell him that you miss him and that you are always here for him. Encourage him not to give up or lose hope. Love will always prevail. He knows you're family and will be glad to hear from you.

So many inmates don't have any contact to their friends and family any more. I think it would be wonderful for your cousin to hear from you and, as the others said, you will find words. You don't have to write a long letter - just a few lines to tell him, that you are here for him if he needs someone.
My prayers are with you and your cousin.

I would write from the heart, tell him you are there for him and offer him your support. I'm sure he will be thrilled and touched to hear from you

Start out by saying to him what you just said to us. Let him know your here for him, and he has been on your mind alot lately. He will appreciate that.

It will flow from there.

I agree with the others. A nice card with a simple heartfelt message should be enough to get the ball rolling. I sent basic details and an invite to write back to my pal, I was a total stranger and he replied with great enthusiasm so I reckon your cousin would be thrilled to hear from you.

Let us know how you go if you decide to do it.

I think you should write if you feel you want to. I have a DR loved one wrote many letters to family members and cousins etc, only to have no reply. I believe he would be happy to hear from you.

I think it would be nice of you to send him a correspondence. It would possibly bring joy to his day.
