wow i didnt know they did or could do that, i do know that in az with the chaplain they can have someone on the outs to adopt their kids for christmas and they come to the house 1 day before xmas, its done threw a church in scotsdale called angel tree, so anyone out here in az, have your loved ones go to church and ask about the angel tree so they can get on it first, they only take the first 20-30 men that sighn up for it. its so cute as the prescents would say from daddy.
It often depends on the state, but most inmates seem to know if they can and have access to any catalogs. They also enlist family or friends on the outside who can do this for them if their DOC does not allow it.
I know that Texas state prisoners can do this because I used to have 4 pen pals in Texas and they sent me lots of stuff - even nice jewelry!
I see your loved one is in federal prison though and I don't know much about the BOP. You might go into the Federal prisons forum and ask there.
Unfortunately, Beaumont returns all gift catalogs or information sent as 'Refused - Unauthorized.' They are the only federal facility in the country to do so, and they provide no explanation as to the reason why gift catalogs are not allowed. We have many customers at that facility and I don't know how they get access to the catalogs unless from an outside family member of friend.
