Default What happens in pre-work release?

Hello to all and a very good evening to each of you! Does anyone know what goes on in pre work release? My girl goes in about a year, and as all things FDC everything could change by then, but she has heard about 20 different rumors so any first hand knowledge would be great. For example can they wear civilian cloths and if so are they specified (a specific type or brand etc). Can they have thinngs sent in from the outside llike t-shirts or small gifts for birthdays or holidays? Are they allowed furlouges? Any first hand info would be great. Thanks for all your help you guys and may you all be blessed for what you do with such kindness.

My best friend just got to Hollywood pre work release in April. All day every day consist of going to different classes and meetings, no free time at all. Only thing you can send to them is paper, pens, folders, stamps and envelopes. Visitation you can bring food but has to be in clear plastic containers. They have pay phones there and the calls are collect. But overall it's better than being in prison! Oh, there are 3 girls to a room.

Hope this help!

Can someone tell me when an inmate can request pre work release? I've read 36 months remaining on fl doc website but when I call they tell me 14 months left. And what do they need to do to get into pre-work release?

  1. When is an inmate eligible for community work release, center work assignment (permanent party), and, community-based residential transition treatment (pre-work release)?

An inmate must meet established criteria in order to be considered for placement in a work release center. The inmate must be in the department custody for at least 60 days and remain disciplinary report free for 60 days prior to placement and be classified as community custody. In addition, an inmate must be within the specific time frames as outlined below.

Inmates with non-advanceable dates must be within:
    • 28 months of their earliest tentative release date for the community-based residential transition program (pre-work release)
    • 19 months of their tentative release date or presumptive parole release date for center work assignment and community-based residential substance abuse program; or
    • 14 months of their earliest tentative release date for work release

Inmates without non-advanceable dates must be within:

    • 36 months of their earliest tentative release date for the community-based residential transition program (pre-work release)
    • 28 months of their tentative release date for center work assignment and community-based residential substance abuse program; or
    • 19 months of their tentative release date for work release

I would quote the above in an email communication and see what the answer is. But that's what the DOC site says. Perhaps the miscommunication is you are saying pre-work release (also known as permanent party) and they are saying work release.
