The following I do believe is what they care about most.
Quote:
"They're going to say, 'We don't worry about people and victims. We don't worry about young people being raped and murdered. We worry about (prison) beds,'" Nielsen said. "That encapsulates the attitude and thinking of the CDCR culture. They care about bed counts. They don't care about bodies. They don't care about victims of crimes."

Nielsen says... "Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) one of the most corrupt, self-serving bureaucracies in state government, one that routinely destroys documents to hide its mistakes and cares more for its own interests than public safety."
And Gordon Hinkle has no response
Thank you Mr. Nielsen!

Finally something written up here about the mess. Well the newspapers all over California are starting to print some of the facts. Now if we can just get them to keep doing it, we might make a dent in the government and the CCPOA.
Where what he is saying about CDCR is mostly correct, he is also grandstanding. He must be running for re-election. It is easy to close the barn door after the cow has escaped. Look at what he is really saying. He talks about reform, but his reform would incarcerate a whole lot more people not less.
Bad things happen in our society and you can't stop it all. I wish we could. No matter what laws you pass people get hurt. He wants to scoop up everyone to get the one that might slip through. That is how these fear mongering laws get passed in the first place.
