Question Intro--sonnersgirl from Florida

My name is Christa, I am 30yrs old and my fiance is in Lancaster county prison. He is about to be moved up to Camp Hill. He was sentenced to a mandatory minimum of one year, which he has already served 10 months of it in county. I live in Florida. I moved down here with our son to establish a life because Lancaster Pa is nothing but drama. I have established an amazing career, have my own house and my own car. The only thing missing is James. I am just so frustrated with the system I am making myself sick. I need to know the steps in getting him down here once he is released. Here are my questions and if anyone can help me I would appreciate it so much. I feel so alone with all of this because NOBODY else is supporting him.

1. Is it better to get married before he gets paroled or after?

2. Is it easier to get approved for a transfer before he is released or after?

3. How do you explain to a two and a half year old that his daddy still isn't coming home?

I am dying inside and out. I know this sounds pathetic but I really dont understand all this. He sold drugs, did more then enough time and this is his first offense.....why is this this so hard when the prisons are so overcrowded already???

PLEASE HELP ME........

I wish I could answer some of your questions, but I'm fairly new here myself. Pto is an awesome support system and I'm sure others will be along to give you some info. Welcome to PTO...we're all in this together.

Hello & welcome to PTO! There is information on Interstate Compacts in our Probation, Parole & supervision forum...that's the process for paroling to a different state than the one incarcerated in. Good luck!! From what you've said, doesn't sound like he'll be gone much longer--but one day gone is one day too many. Stay strong!

Thank you so much ladies! I need all the support I can get. This is so much harder than I could have ever imagined. My son is devastated. I am trying to find out if we get married as soon as he gets out, if parole will let him move down with us. His son needs him so bad. I am so happy I found this site! Thank you all again so much!!
