Default Pepsi

Thought you might find this interesting and give you something to think about...

Pepsi has a new patriotic can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Bldg. and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. But Pepsi forgot two little words on the pledge, "Under God." Pepsi said they did not want to offend anyone.

If this is true then we do not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office. If we do not buy any Pepsi product then they will not receive any of our monies. Our money after all does have the words "Under God" on it.

Please pass this word to everyone you know. Tell your Sunday School class tomorrow and tell your Pastors so that they can tell the whole congregation. Christians stand up and let your voices be heard.

We want the words "under God" to be read by every person who buys a can

Bonnie,

What a fascinating point. I had heard there is a controversy over Pepsi, is this it?

You know, the "original" pledge of Allegence did not have the words "under God" in it. These people at pepsi are really dumb. A much safer argument would be to say they were using the "old" or "original" version.

Since this was not the case, and they do not wish to "offend" anybody because of the words, "under God", and furthermore, since it is my understanding that the VAST MAJORITY of people in this nation BELIEVE in God, then I am forced to completely and totally agree with your solution.

I also agree in not deliberately trying to outright offend someone, if possible (not always possible). Since, Pepsi is offended by "under God", I will join you and not blatently offend them by giving them anything with those words on them....... Damn.... I wanted to try that "Pepsi Blue" too..... Guess not.... At least for a while until they "repent".

Respectfully IMO,

I am offended that they would take out "under God". I am getting so tired of this whole thing. I think everyone has the right to believe in whatever or whoever they wish, but, this country was founded "under God" period. We are constantly changing words, or taking words out, to "not offend". Well, without sounding harsh here, they are offending the people that this country is about. Does that make sense? I am all for freedom of religion, but don't take away mine, in my country, because I may offend someone else. I am sorry, but if you don't like the word God on our money, or in our allegience, or etc, then go somewhere else. Just my opinion.

I have said for eons now, that there will be a time that the words, "IN GOD WE TRUST" will be removed from our money. I didn't think it would happen in my life time, but it sure looks like it's headed in that direction with what's going on!

You get a major company to remove anything about God and people get use to it not being there. It's a foot hold to change IMO

As a die hard Mountain Dew lover I had to check this out. Here's what Pepsi has to say:

FALSE RUMOR ALERT: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE CANS (September 6, 2002)
We wanted to clarify an erroneous report that has been circulating around cyberspace for the past several months. Pepsi has not created any packaging containing an edited version of America's Pledge of Allegiance. A patriotic package used last year by Dr Pepper was inappropriately linked to this rumor. Dr Pepper's position is very clearly articulated at: http://www.dpsu.com/drpepper_can.html.

Check out the Dr. Pepper link - it actually shows the can.

Thanks Monica. I am glad you checked it out further. I'll be the first to admit that sometimes I get things in my e-mail that I think is from a reliable source and I just go with it. That's what happened here. I do still think they stopped short with the "one nation...indivisible" portion though. It's almost as if they purposly didn't want the additional "under God" on the can just in case it did start a controversy. Oh well, glad they retired the can in July, cause in my humble opinion, if they can't do it right, then don't do it at all! I still live in "one nation, indivisible, under God, with liberty and justice for all" !!!

PS - Rumor probably started by Coke! LOL

Yea - Coke probably put it out there! It would not surprise me if they left off "Under God." I remember watching "Full House" and one of the kids was saying the "Pledge" and left out that part. I haven't liked the show since.

What is this world comming to? COme on!! We are so worried about what others think and if they will be offended. It is a known fact..America was founded on christian principles and now all of sudden we cant say the Pledge of Allegance in school..can't pray or anything. Now a dang can of Pepsi may affend those that don't believe. OH MY!!!!!!!! I am all for this...let the world know we we are proud of who we are and what we believe!!!!!!!!!!! AMEN!!!
