Default Visiting the SHU?

Matt said he thinks it's only family allowed but I know that can't be right since Lucid is approved. My question is do I have to fill out another visiting form for the SHU or is the one I have on file already good? I would think it is fine but who knows? He still isn't there yet so he doesn't know the rules but he should be transfered over by mid Feb.

You should call the SHU and find out what you will have to do to visit. You will have to call early in the week (Monday) and make your appointment to visit and you should check back on it just to make sure they have you on the list. Love Barb

If you are already an approved visitor at PBSP, then you do not need to fill out a new form once he goes to the SHU. I go visit my husband once a month and one month was a General Population Visit, the very next visit was a SHU visit and nothing changed as far as checking in to the visiting area. You do have to call to make an appointment to visit, either 9:00am or 12:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Call the visiting area first thing Monday morning of the weekend you want to visit. You can leave a message on the answering machine, but make sure you call back and check to see if an appointment has been made, especially if you have to travel. I've seen people turned away who said they thought they left a message!! I always call 8:00am Monday morning and then call back during the week. I then call one more time on Friday, because you never know what might be going on. Case in point, the electricity went off for a whole day around New Year's and when I called the day before I left to visit, they gaurd said if they did not have electicity back on the next day, there would be no visit.

Hope that helps.

Visitng: Well you should always call 707-465-1000 then press *111
It will take you right into the Visiting Center.
If it is your first time or even if you have not visited within the last 30 days and you are traveling more than 250 miles. (SHU Visits) Write a letter to the warden and request an extended visit. So that you can get a morning and afternoon visit.
Do not wear any yellow, orange, grey or various shades of blue. Oh yeah no white t-shirts either.
Low cut blouses, tight clothing in general will give them reason to not let you in.
So come prepared with back up clothing in the car.
Good Luck!
