I have been around here a while and have NEVER heard of such a program. And probably would have by now. Inmates are the worst purveyors of bad info/gossip/half heard things.

Well, at least in the county he was living in before he got locked up, my fiance could get up to $400 from DSS (Dept. of Social Services) + $50 for utilities each month. He couldn't just give it to anyone, it had to go directly to the landlord and the landlord had to be willing to take it (meaning it had to be declared income, etc.). If the landlord is doing rent "off the books", he won't be able to take the government money.

So what is the program? Is it through Social Services, Unemployment, Food Stamps or another agency, which one.?
It would be good for others to know how to apply and get assistance.
