Exclamation Notary info and Power Of Attorney Questions for PVSP

My Dad is locked up in PV and I need to get POA dealt with. I have been told different things so I signed up here to get some real life info. Has anyone ever had to deal with this??

My mom was POA and failed us miserably. She lost everything, including a 500,000 dollar pair of houses. He does not have much coming in anymore except his retirement fund and I need to protect that. The POA was his idea so no problem there.

Thanks for any input.

There are a couple version of a POA. Like one to control finances, medical etc. If you know the one that you need you can download it from the computer. Once you get an accurate copy, you then send your dad a copy. He gets it notarized from a person inside for like 30 bucks and then he sends it to you. From there you should be able to handle his affairs legally. Hope I helped somewhat.

I have a POA on my hubby and all he did was had one written up inside, state that he gave me control of everything out here and he signed it and had it noterized by his Unit Supervisor. It didnt cost him anything to have it noterized but to have someone write it up it cost him like $10 cuz he is illiterate and can not read or write other than a 2-3 grade reading level. I hope this helps as well. Good Luck

It does cost money for the notary in the prison...but it isnt very much, like inmateswife said maybe $10 or so. Once the POA is notarized, it needs to be sent back to you and you must file it with the recorders office in your county. Otherwise it is not any good.

Here is the form for you sweetie

Ok I am bringing this thread back up because I am so frustrated that the Notary has not come to take care of what "A" and I need done!!! Its been 2 months that we have been waiting. Is there anyway or anyone we can contact on this? I have called the litigations department...."A" has filed a 602. He has the money on his books...so we know that isnt the problem. I just dont know what to do anymore about this...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
