Murder scene DNA does not match Thomas Arthur

The daughter of convicted killer Tommy Arthur said DNA testing of evidence collected for his capital murder trial more than 25 years ago does not link him to the crime.

This is amazing. Hang in there Mr Arthur. They can only ignore the science for so long.

They have ignored it before Mamma, and in some cases won't even allow it. They would rather execute than be proven wrong! Good luck Mr Arthur, I hope to see your name on the exonerated pages very soon.

Sadly I have recieved an update on Thomas and it doesnt look good.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Teresa Pulliam clears way for the Alabama Supreme Court to set execution date for Thomas Arthur after denying requests for further DNA testing
My thoughts are with Thomas and all involved

The Alabama attorney general's office has filed its second request this summer asking the Alabama Supreme Court to set an execution date for death row inmate Tommy Douglas Arthur.
The 69-year-old Arthur was convicted in the 1982 murder-for-hire killing of Muscle Shoals businessman Troy Wicker. He's one of the longest serving death row inmates in Alabama history and has been there since 1983. The article is here.

It is unacceptable that the state of Alabama is prepared to put a potentially innocent man to death rather than let him conduct a simple test that could prove his innocence. Write Governor Robert Bentley and urge him to allow Thomas Arthur’s legal team to conduct the DNA testing that could spare his life.

The form and further info is here.

It is horrible to think that its not a persons right to prove one's innocence, im really blown away by that fact, what happened to innocent till proven guilty? clearly this case should be thrown out and he be exonerated.

Thank you for the info. I have sent the Governor the message. I hope and pray that this spares Mr. Arthur's life.

Attorneys for an Alabama inmate scheduled to die next week have asked a federal appeals court to hold off on his execution in order to allow more time for a possible rehearing.

Is this the next Troy Davis?

I don´t understand what is wrong with the USA and how they tread their own people!
This is indeed absolutely unacceptable!

Someone else confessed to the murder, it is Bobby Ray Gilbert.
Here is his confession:

I don't know whether Tommy is guilty or innocent, but I do know it can't be right to execute a man without being absolutely sure he's guilty. There is so much doubt in this case, that justice should be allowed to prevail. The more sophisticated DNA test available (at no cost to the State) would settle the DNA issue once and for all.
