Default Food stamps and a Class G felony

I live in North carolina And went to apply for food stamps. I was told because Of the class G felony have i would not every in my life time be able to get food stamps. This to me is crazy. It makes a person who Now cant really get a great job because of the felonies Now cant even get assistance! How are we suppose to survive in the world if we can get no real help?

In Wisconsin it is a 5 year limit for drug felonies. Any other felonies don't matter, you can get food stamps.

I'm pretty sure the food stamp programs are all federally funded. Even though the name may make it sound like a state program (like Wisconsin Foodshare), it is still a federal program and the only things that disqualify a person are drug felony convictions in the past 5 years or prior food stamp fraud.

Good luck!

I couldn't get them in AZ because I have a drug felony. So I can't get a job or eat food because I've used drugs in the past. And they wonder why everyone goes back to prison! The system is fucked!

I recently learned about this myself, it is unfortunate, but there are still agencies out there that can help you to put food in your stomach and on the table. There are still plenty of churches and food banks that will provide you groceries and or daily meals without asking you about your personal or criminal history. They do things based on the word of God which is forgiving and not silly man made selfish laws. You will be fine. Dont give up, Dont go back to prision. There are places that will make sure that you are fed until you get back on your feet, I promise!
