Default I need to get in touch with MCI

Does any one know the number for MCI? I have to call them to make sure there's no block on my phone. I haven't received any calls for 9 months because he was in the box, and I don't trust MCI. Thanks

Let me say this to all of you first timers when your man leaves reception and enters the facility reception sends him to. If your telephone carrier is other than MCI, after a couple of calls MCI will block your phone line. So, if your loved one calls everyday but then a day, then two, then 3 go by and you hear nuthing, contact them 1-800-444-3333 is another number. After you punch iin your phone number they'll recognize it as receiving collect calls from prison and route you to the high toll department. The purpose of MCI blockin your line is they want to be sure whoever pays the bill knows that collect calls are being accepted b/c once the month pass and you get the bill they not trying to hear "someone's accepted collect calls on my line, it wasn't me, so I'm not paying". So they block the line and will eventually call you with a 3 second recorded message that your phone's been blocked. If you miss the call b/c you're working, then you won't know what's going on. So once you hook up with a person, and in high toll you get a person QUICK, they will verify with the bill payer that they know the collect calls have been coming thru. They will also check with your local telephone company (verizon or whoever it may be) to find out if your bill is paid up to date and what your payment history has been like so they can get a feel for themselves whether or not you'll be a late payer or whatever. Once it's determined that you're in no phone trouble with your local company, MCI will release the blocks on your line and your calls will come thru. Another thing I don't like about them is if you pay your bill late, no warning letter or warning phone call or nothing like that -- they will just up and block your phone, so if you're used to getting calls regularly and then a couple days go by and you dont -- more than likely MCI didn't get your payment on time so you've been blocked. Once paid, you'll have to call them again, they'll have to verify with your local company again that your local bill is up to date too, and then the block will be released.

Bospiece...thanks for all the info....you hit the nail on the head....and it really sucks...I got blocked because I changed my long distance carrier from MCI to Sprint....which should have nothing to do with accepting collect calls from MCI/prison....Judy

I have another # for you to add to your list of #s for MCI collect call disputes..1-888-414-0898 press option 1....Mci explained to me that my collect calls were blocked on the 18th and the block was removed on the 19th....because I changed long distance carriers just as was previously posted. I got a letter from my man Luis Angel today and he told me he tried to call me on the 18th and 19th and got a message saying the calls were blocked because of a billing dispute...He said he was so sorry for running up my bill and causing me problems....He hasn't tried since then I am sure...so hopefully when he gets my letter he will know the block is off (hopefully) and I need him to call me.....before I have to leave Florida and come up there to talk to him (smiles).....Judy
PS Do you remember when they deregulated the Bell system and AT&T so there would be no monopoly???? HA!!!!!!!
