Question What is the release procedure at DVI

I have questions about how they do releases at DVI. My honey is almost done! WOOOWHOO! Does anyone have an idea how they do the releases at DVI?

1. Do I have to go inside and let them know I am there to pick him up? (This will determine what I wear. LOL)
2. What time will he be released?
3. Do I need to send him dress out clothes?
4. Can I just bring his dress out clothes with me when I pick him up?
5. Is there any other information that I will need to get him?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Cat

This is what I've seen...
1. You do let them know that who you are there to pick-up.
2. The times I've been there I've seen them being released around 8am (that's on a Saturday/Sunday, don't know about the rest of the week).
3. Dress outs are to be sent about 30 days before release, with only the clothes in the box, clearly marked DRESS OUTS.
4-5. Can't answer these ones.
You may want to call DVI and ask, just to be sure.
Congrats on the homecoming!!

Question a related question

I have a related question. On the day that a man is released from DVI Tracy, does he come out through the security station and visitor's check-in area like we do when we leave the prison after visits? Where exactly does he exit the prison?

And where do his loved ones wait for him?

Thanks.

(My man is coming up for parole in a few months and I want to visualize him leaving the prison and me meeting him there to take him home)

You check in at the visiting center, you can wait there. A CO will come in to the visiting waiting area and ask if there is anyone there to pick up a parolee, then he will tell you to go get your car and wait out front. The guys are brought out by the van, to the front of the visiting center. The guy's with a ride get out and go home with their loved one's and the others stay on the van and get taken to the Greyhound.

That's terrific. I haven't picked anyone up from DVI, but at Solano, you had to be there no later than 6:30 am the morning of release. If they don't have a ride when they are brought out, they will take them to the bus depot, I think. If you haven't already, you will need to send him Parole clothes. He will have to send you the notice. It will tell you what you can and can't send. R&R will hold his clothes until his release day. Sorry I can't be more specific, but maybe someone here can help you.

Here's a suggestion...Can the Mods make a sticky with Release info? That would be helpful to so many.

That is a good suggestion sweetie.

Not every inmate is released the same though...some are higher custody levels...so there are different release requirements than those who are lower custody. Edsbaby knows more about this than I...what do you think????

This is pretty much just basic info on releases from DVI. When one is not sure if this info applies to them they should call DVI an ask. The inmate being released would know if he will have special parole requirements. I have heard some cases the parolee has to be escorted to his county by his PO. I believe that would be a very unausal case. But when in doubt always call the prison.

I do know that if an inmate is a high level security parolee than he would have to be picked up by his parole officer and taken to the county jail to be released there.

My hubby is "HIGH CONTROL" I was able to pick him up from his last term and bring him home he was in a different County. But he was not allowed to be released on a Friday or a Saturday due to the fact that they have to check in with in 24 hours to parole. Hope that helps some????

Question Getting released need some info

Hey everyone......... Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season!! I have a few questions..........

My husband has been given his release date of 02/17/09 and he has sent me a yellow paper for me to fill out and send back with his parole clothes. What can I send?

Does anybody know what happens on release day? I know that I will get there and tell them who I am and who I am there to pick up, and they will search my car and all that "good" stuff but what time will they release him? Will he know this before the day? Or do I just show up there and wait?

Any help would be great! Please let me know!

Thank you

Jenny
