Default Murder case being adjourned for going on 2yrs ????

Hi,

My fiancee's best friend is locked up with him on Riker's Island in NYC. I wanted to find out if anyone know's how many times a case could be adjourned without being offered anything. He has been on the Island for going on 2 yrs now and have not had any offers, they keep adjourning the case because they still didn't have anything. Can someone give me some insight?

THEY MUST HAVE SOMETHING ON HIM,am from nyc too and if they did'nt have something the judge would've asked what's going on,these judges in this state are not very patient with these DA'S,i would be doing alot of talking with his lawyer trying to find out what's going on with the case.

His defense attorney should file a motion for a speedy trial, or even a motion of dismissal. I'm not sure how long a DA can stall, but I have heard of cases not getting to trial for around two years because they are complicated and the state and defense are both trying to obtain evidence, track down witnesses, etc.
