Hello Donsgirl...
My husband has been in Polk for a long time....It's not so bad really, in comparison to some of the ohter places in Fl. They do tend to 'frown' upon 'happy' people who are in Love, but we try to ignore that. I had some emergency issues to deal with back home, in Michigan, (where we are originally from), so we are seperated temporarily, but I will be back soon.
The visiting hours are Sat. AND Sun. from 9am-3pm....the park is a decent size and I know there are some 'kewl' games to play with, 'cuz I donated some of them. I'm not sure what kind of info you're looking for, but ask me anything and I'll do my best to try and answer for you!
Take Care & Happy New Year!
-Mrs. T

donsgirl.....when you say Polk and camp do you mean the place where they stay in dorms and there are no fences and they are very relaxed? My son did his time at Fort Myers work camp the last time he was in (18months) and then just before he came home he was at the Polk work camp in fact we (his family) attended his "graduation" there...if that is the place it reminded me of a very old retreat/camp that they had for boys...back in the day...I hope that is where he is....EZ going....My son was only there a few weeks and then they sorted then out and sent them to the counties of their choice (in some cases) for work release......some guys stayed right there and did there work release..?? How long does he have may I ask? As always don't take what I say as Gospel....I may be speaking of the wrong place......good luck to him....Judy....PS we gotta get our Ocala area lunch thingy off the ground huh?

Default Polk OK

No not the camp. The reg. unit. He's saying that it pretty laid back. They open the doors in the morning and let them do just about anything they want short of going over the fence. Everybody is telling him that it is the best in the state. maybe our luck has changed?

One of my friends has been transferred there, so I asked him last night when he called. He said he likes it there better than when he was at Century and at Avon Park, but he didn't say anything specific.
