permissable inmate clothing

I was shopping for hubby today and I do know the basics on what I am allowed and not allowed to buy. I know the colors they can't have and most of the styles however, I bought a sweatshirt type thingy today that has a little zipper at the top. It's not a full length zipper just one that zips down to the chest. Are they allowed zippers on their shirts or sweatshirts? Does anyone know?

hmmm good question, I don't know if thats acceptable or not. I do know the style you are talking about though. I am trying to think if i have ever seen someone in the visiting room wearing that type of shirt but i cant recall. But if you find out, please let us know.

i bought my fiancee the same type of sweatshirt, with the zipper down to the chest, and it was accepted. he even wore it on a visit. He's in Gowanda, but i think all the NYS prisons have the same clothing requirements.

Well I'm going to give it a try. He's in Great Meadow, if they make him send it back, they make him send it back. It was just a nice shirt I thought it would be worth the try. I'll let you know what they say!!
