Default He was transferred to Powder River, looking for some information.

Good evening all!

Cecil (my man) was transferred today to Powder River...if anyone has any additional information about that facility, I would really love input as to what it is all about and if your loved ones/one are currently serving there.

I did notice that the visiting hours on the post under prisons has different hours than the DOC website. I am assuming that DOC is current???

Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't "assume" anything. I don't know the visiting at Powder River, have never visited there. Just know that at some of the end stage programs, you are assigned a certain time to visit per week, and that is the only visiting time you get. I shouldn't be answering at all for Powder River, though, because I know nothing of it.

Is he eligible for the AIP program or was he sent there as a critical worker?

For those coming in, but not in the AIP yet or are critical workers
The visiting hours for Powder River are:

Visiting Hours:
Sat/Sun/Hol: 7:45 - 10:30 a.m., 12:45 - 3:30 p.m.

It is one point per visit per person. You can visit both morning and afternoon without prior arrangements. There is a soda vending machine and snack vending machine. They take coins or dollar bills, no token exchange needed. There is also a cabinet with games.

The visiting is in the cafeteria. You sit on one side of the table, they sit on the other. It is pretty relaxed visiting atmosphere. When I was there 2 weeks ago there most inmates to have visits at one time were 5. The staff are very nice to everyone! It was a refreshing change!

I have not found out the specifics on visiting after they are in the AIP program.

What else do you need to know?

Hi Dizzy-

Yes he is elgible for an AIP, we thought he was going to Shutters bootcamp (north bend). He saw his counselor last week and she talked highly of him being elgible for the bootcamp.

Like I said I am not educated on the programs, but did see that there is an AIP at Powder.

Thanks for the information!

Does anyone know anything about why an inmate would get a form for the inmate to fill out for a birth certificate?

Who gave him the form? DOC staff? If so, is he getting released anytime soon? Are they wanting him to obtain his birth certificate so he can get I.D. right away upon release? I don't have any answers, as you can see - just questions that might shed some light on the matter. Did they tell him what they want him to do with the form? It's useless to send in unless there is payment also - unless the DOC is going to pay! Z.

Default Birth Certificates

Thanks for replying Zelda50

Yes...DOC staff gave it go him. On it...it says it came from inmate servcies. When he was in Coffee Creek the intake counselor required him to be put into a AIP/Drug program prior to his release (it was in his papers) His release date isn't until 8/21/2010. I went onto the DOC website and it says that all inmates are provided with a birth certificate prior to their release. So I was hoping that possibly they are getting things lined up for him to get into an AIP/drug program sooner rather then later. Maybe that will shed some light on things.

Well, I'd say that's great news - that they're going to help him get his birth certificate!! It's essential for getting I.D. these days. And great if he's going into AIP soon, because he'll get a lot of time off if he completes it! Z.
