The MCI phone company is run by a bunch of baffoons. I had a $20 phone bill. I sent them the money and then I get a letter from a collections company!!! Its going on two months now that I've been fighting with them. Even thou every thing is okay now they still havent turned my toll calls back on!!! WTF.........OH yeah, I HATE MCI!!!!!

the ironic thing is, that they sent me to collections for $20.00!!!

they stopped my collect calls. They told me that I can go on a prepaid program. I just have to wait until after christmas to do it. If you send them 50 dollars it is 4 calls a month. If you send them 100 dollars thats 8 calls a month. I figured it out it comes to almost 12 dollars a phome call what a rip off.

I am soory for the problems with MCI. The whole system is so slow and so irritating.
I posted a few weeks ago, i am waiting, three months now, for a first bill!!! I called MCI, ATT, the facility, everyone sends me to someone else!! When the bill hits I am ready for it but, meantime, we live in fear of having my collect calls turned off and we havent even been given a bill. I have about 30 pages of documentation showing that I am TRYING to get a bill! Because he was worried they would say wee were trying to 'steal' service, my husband has gone to people at the facility about it and he got a memo that it was taken care of but I still have no bill!!!
From three calls that were billed at the very begining I think we ARE paying about $12 a call for 30-35 minutes but no way to be sure!
Wish there was something all of us could do to resolve these MCI issues. Do any facilities anywhere in the country allow phone cards?

My man recently went back to Ny on a parole violation..he is at Gowanda now but at first he was at Riker's Island..My local phone company is Sprint (I am in Florida)..He called me collect 5 times from Riker's Island and we talked 15 minutes each time...the operator quoted a rate of 3.00 plus 50 cents a minute...but when I got billed the charges were 19.00 for each call ??? They were billed on the SPRINT portion of my bill..WRONG....I called the local phone company to question the charges.at first the rep was very rude and said of course the charges wer correct...when I explained the situation he adjusted all of the calls 99.95 worth....my point? it pays to question your billing if in doubt and dispute the charges if they are wrong....I worked for the phone company and yes they do make mistakes and yes they do adjust and yes they are mighty damn expensive.....Judy

Oops I forgot to mention that if the calls are billed on your regular monthly phone bill and there is a problem...such as the case of not getting billed for your calls and then getting hit with it all at once...in SOME states you can call the Public service commission or Public Utilities commission it depends on what state you are in as to how helpful they are....I have had good luck with it here in Florida...one time when the phone company wouldn't let me make payment arrangements.... I called the commission and they contacted the phone company and told them to call m back with arrangements...no guarantees but always worth a try with any telephone problem......Judy

i Have mci and my calls are only 7.80 for 30 minutes,an he calls me from upstate, i just dont like how they always turning your service off

MCI SUCKS ... SUCKS..
I OWE THEM LIKE 650 and mailed them 150 and they are saying they deducted the 150.00 and it isnt showing anywhere. the blocked my service when i told them i am making full payment on tuesday.. they always do this to me and i send them money always. it is like i work for them.

the thing is they know that they've got us ... even tho' their prices are outrageous and their service is terrible, they know as long as we can talk to our loved ones we will keep coming back b/c they are the only game in town. Anywhere else folks would get locked up for the type of business they are running but they are able to get away with it ... amazing!

i switched phone companies to idt. they are available in new york. They do not let mci bill the phone company so you have to set up an account with mci. Here is how it works. You make a prepayment. if you pay 50 dollars on your debit or credit card you can have 6 calls a month. If you pay 100 dollars you can have 14 calls a month but first you have to switch to idt the phone number is 1800call iddt. At first before they find out they let you have your collect calls back for about a week to two. Just a little information if anyone wants it.

MCI is the worst. Mike was in Gouverneur for 4 and change. I had problems with MCI every two months. Now he's at Ulster and there's still a problem. I get local service and my computer DSL line from Verizon. AT& T does my long distance. Now I've got family down south but I don't call them often so my long distance can get turned off w/o me knowing. Turns out my collect calls are being blocked for none payment of my long distance bill to Verizon. I'm sure you're saying I'm with AT&T right yeah but check this out.
My DSL with verizon is billed in the long distance part of the bill, so when you pay part of the partial bill it's only going to pay on local calls not long distance. Even though I'm paying down on the bill it doesn't count towards long distance. I only found this out because I had to call Verizon and MCI and get them on the phone together. As always MCI was trying to blame Verizon and the verizon rep himself was tired of the bs.
Both parties tell me that my line is clear and I shouldn't have any problems receiving calls. Needless to say I still am. I've even called myself collect from a payphone. I can get through why can't he. He's calling from Ulster and I spoke to the counselor's up there and the number on the list is right.
Either way since he's already served 4 and change and had to go back for screwing up on probation I'm not even sure if I still have the energy to fight through this crap again. Especialy if it's just to hear the sorry excuses for why he messed up again. Sorry I detered for a minute that last part should go to another forum. Anybody know where I can vent cause I am truly stressing.
