Question Extradition - Timing?

Does anyone have an idea how long it takes for someone to be extradited from New Jersey to Texas?

My boyfriend was extradited from here (NJ) on August 15th at about 7:30 PM...

So I'm wondering how long the transit period is, but I guess there's also a process when he gets to Texas.

Maybe this question can't be answered, but any information would be appreciated.

Then again, maybe there's someone I can contact to find out...?

Was he extardited using a private extardition company? Or was he extradited by the Texas DOC? When my husband was in county, a woman was being extradited from Tennessee to Florida. She was on the road for over two weeks - went through Chicago (twice) had been all over the eastern US. Finally wound up here in Mississippi and stayed at county in limbo for over a week. While on the extradition van she was shackled the entire trip, fed three meals per day from McDonald's and only allowed off of the van long enough to use the bathroom, once every 4 hours. She sat up in the seat to eat, sleep and everything. No shower, no toothbrush, no cigarettes, no nothing. The extradition people told her they had 6 months to get her to her destination and that time didn't come off of her sentence. I think TransCor(p) was the company in charge of her extradition. Fortunately, when my husband was extradited from Mississippi to Alabama, the Alabama DOC picked him up and it only took four hours for him to arrive at Kilby in Montgomery.

Once he gets there he'll stay at intake until he is classified. In alabama, for parole violators they stay at intake or in classification until after the parole board's decision is handed down.

Do you know what facility he is going to? I called Kilby and asked if my husband had made it safely and what his address would be so I could write to him. They told me he was there and when he arrived and gave me the mailing address.

My guy was extradited from Florida to Ny and back. He was taken by plane though. I have heard the same things that danielle said about the bus, how long it takes and that the eat McDonald's 3x a day. Call the Texas inmate info. phone # I don't have it but check in the post about how to find an inmate, if not Shortie knows the # by heart. Even if he can't call yet he will be in their system if he has arrived. If he is going to a jail he should be able to call once he gets settled. Let us know when you find out. I'm sure all will be fine!

My husband was taken from n.c. to fl. by conair and it took him into 3 diff. state stopovers (went to Mass, Ny & Oklahoma) took him almost 10 days. Now he's enroute from Miami toColeman (a 4 hour car rde) by "conair" again. Left Tues. A.M. still haven't heard from him.? Only the guys driving the plane or bus seem to know where or when they are going to get somewhere.

Blu...

My thoughts go out to you since you appear to be going through some of what I'm going through.

It's horrible not knowing how long the transit will take, huh?

I sure hope I hear something from him soon...

Hello.

I don't know if this will help. But I have a pretty good clue as to were he might be. There is a private extradiction company by the name of TransCor. They have a website at www.transcor.com. They have information on there website about how to contact them. To legally answer your question, federal law permit any agent/authorize agency to transport inmates in custody with 180 days. I know its a scary thought. But check out transcor and see what they say.
