Default Probation detentions centers in GA

I have heard that truetlen will probably close by next month. They are preparing it to close. Word is that all should close before 2009.

I am going to direct you to our "Georgia DOC What You Need to Know". I have posted the minutes from the GA DOC minutes from the last 2 months and there has been no talk of the PDC's closing as of yet. Actually, they have been ADDING beds.
Take Care,
T

Question Ga PDC's

They closed Terrell PDC in Oct. They put my man in a prison then sent him to Cedartown. I hear that all the PDC's are closing. ?????

I've heard that the Emanuel probation Detention Center in Twin City, Ga. will hopefully be closing soon and will be releasing sometime, starting in April. If anyone have any other information regarding this please feel free to inform me.

How did you find out that Emanuel Probation Detention Center is really closing? I don't wanna get my hopes up if it's just a rumor... And does anyone know what would happen to the people that still have time left if where they are does get closed down?

I know someone that's at Emanuel Probation Detention Center. As I was told that they are turning it into a prison or halfway house and those that don't have prison time have to be transferred or sent back to thier county of conviction to face the judge. It would be nice to know more but what are they going to do with these people in the detention center for probation violations, that is a waste of money because they are barley feeding these people and can't afford it because of the budget.

Default Emanuel County PDC

I have heard that Emanuel County is suppose to close. All PDC's, diversion centers, and boot camps are suppose to close in GA due to budget cuts. They've already had a lot of officers resign. I've heard you will not be able to send money thru JPAY starting april 28th. You'll have to send it to ATL and it will take 2 weeks for them to get it. I sure hope they do... My baby is there til Sept. Let me know if any more info is heard!!!

Just sent money through JPay on May 3rd and it went through... No problems... Put it in on Sunday evening and he got a receipt stating it had arrived on May 4th...

And even when you send the money orders to ATL, it hasn't been taking 2 weeks... I've done it with and without a voucher and it's never been more than 4 or 5 days... Depending on when I put it in the mail (AM or PM) and what day (Monday or Friday)....

i understand that they have a new prob camp in paulding county (dallas) . we were hoping my hubby could get sent there, but they are keeping him as a perm. at ga diag. ( jackson ) , it would have been nice because his dad is in real bad health, and they are even saying he is gonna have to get chemo.

I'm sorry to hear that he's not closer to you... He can always put in for a transfer... He can include reasons about being closer to family for support and having an ill father...

He should be getting a letter soon... It'll be from the parole board and it'll tell him everything they want him to know!

Dingy-

He may NOT be acting. I found out about his last parole decision before him and it was OVER a week later before he was called into the office to sign the papers.

Lorna, yea its been about 3 weeks since i found out, so i dont know if he knows are not, i sent him a letter out yesterday, actually wrote it before i got his, and i said something in it about him being denied . he was saying he needed more money than what his parents were sending him a( 30 dollars ) a month. so he could buy food, stamps , cigs. and such. so his boss, my roommate ( which works with him), and our daughter, and myself ( even though im on unemployment and cant send much) are gonna get together and send him money. he was saying if we sent him 150 dollars it should last till he gets out, plus what his dad sends. so it makes me think he doesnt know that he got denied parole. he never said either he does know or not.

A sargeant just told D dorm that it is closing as of June 1, 2009. He could just be messing with them, but I talked to someone that has someone in A dorm and they were told the same thing, so I don't know. I can't find anything about it on the dcor website.

Have you tried calling the DOC and questioning them? Who knows, they may tell you!!! It won't hurt to try, if you haven't already!
