Default Federal inmates and release date info...

Can anyone tell me about "projected release date" and "actual release date" with federal inmates? Aside from the obvious, I'm unsure why there would be two different dates or exactly what that means...Thanks for the info.

A projected release date assumes that the inmate receives all of his/her good time credits and that the sentence computation has been done correctly. The actual release date is determined - well, by the date of release if all goes as planned. If the inmate gets in trouble and loses good time credits or if some error is found, then the projected release date changes. That's my understanding anyway.

I believe that a "projected release date" is given before the person is released. After the person is released, the date on which the person is turned loose is the "actual release date." In other words, I think that the actual release date is given only after the release occurs.
Hope that helps.
