Martin Droughn, on Texas death row, is getting married by proxy this coming monday. Others have done so and the brides send their plain wedding bands in to the chaplains to be given to the grooms.
Martins bride called Warden Zeller, on Polunsky, and this is what he said
"If you want him to have a wedding ring so bad put it on his finger after he is executed"
How damn cruel can this creep be?? Please help me publicize this cruelty!
Love, Marta

The circumstances surrounding this love are sad enough without a sadistical b#$%^#d thrown into the mix as a warden. It's no wonder there are sooo many grievences on DR!

how sickening can this man be. Zeller's(if married) wife wanted him to have a wedding band. This man should as well and not be an exemption. Zeller's a DUMBA$$!
He needs a ring in his nose!! In fact, maybe we could kidnap him, tie him up and body pierce him all over the place, inserting plain gold bands in the most uncomfortable of places . Maybe then he would think twice before denying another prisoner, death row or otherwise. What a skunk he is!

Oh my goodness!! That is the worst thing I have heard. I cannot believe a warden would say such an awful, and unprofessional thing. How can he get away with that?
"how can he get away with that?"
1)welcome to TX
2)he's the warden
3)welcome to TX
I don't know if we are the worst state as far as treatment of inmates goes but I KNOW we have to rank in the top 5 of prisoner abuse. I haven't been in this near as long as a lot of the others here but you learn real quick the ghastly hell our loved ones are in. There are some here who have walked the walk themselves and know the horror of it. The Human Society lobbys for and gets better treatment for animals then a prisoner in TX receives.

I had no idea Texas was that bad about inmate abuse. WOW! I'm sorry to hear it, I thought Ohio prisoners had it rough, but ours sounds like a cake walk compared to Texas.

It's a horrible situation no matter where you are... it's just an issue of degrees. But TX really is infamous where our prisons are concerned, it's a case of bravado mind set. Senior Texan men, especially those in power, are a breed of their own. LOL

An unprofessional, crappy thing to say. The DOC has too much free reign - when an organization is in charge of itself totally and completely and unaccountable to anyone, then that organization will at times take advantage of the situation and practice cruelty.
