Transfer to State Jail – Now going to Louisiana??? Help!
My fiancée is in a holding cell awaiting transfer to LaSalle, which is in Louisiana. He’s supposed to be moved in the morning and suppose to go to a State Jail. I didn’t think they were supposed to tell you where the inmate was being moved to??? Is it possible that he will be moved somewhere in Harris County and this is just something they tell everyone so no one will attempt a “break out”? He had it on good authority that he was going somewhere else, still in Harris County. Has this happened to anyone else??? Please help, I’m freaking out!
Does he have a charge in Louisiana? You're right, normally they don't tell where they are going for security issues, but if he's being extradited, that's a different story. My boyfriend was in Louisiana, and when he was done with his charges there, they held him and I knew he was going to Harris County to face charges there. You can always check www.vinelink.com to keep up to date with his status if he is not in the harris county system. You can also call up there for clarification. Whatever you do, don't stress. It doesn't help you at all.
Ok, I found out a little more information. He has been transferred to J.B. Evans in Eastern Louisiana due to overcrowding in Harris County. He’s serving his State Jail time as county time in another state. Ok, my head hurts! Way too confusing. Apparently Harris County has a contract with this facility because of overcrowding. Anyway, does anyone know anything about J.B. Evans Correctional Facility?? Or if you know someone who has been transferred there from Harris county?? They didn’t tell me he was being moved to Louisiana until he was almost there, it’s 8 hours away. Please let me know if this has happened to anyone else??
I had read where they were sending Harris Co. Offenders to LA. due to overcrowding. I wish I could help you more but I haven't read or heard anything about the facility they are being sent to. I wish you well.
