Information for Quick Collect in Other Countries
I wrote to Jeff, and he sent me the information to do a quick direct deposit overseas, for us that didnt know, so I am going to post it up here. We can do this in Australia, the same way we send a wire transfer. I hope this helps those like me that now knows how to do it in our own country
Effective May 6, 2002, the friends/families of inmates may begin sending funds by wire transfer using Western Union Quick Collect Service. To locate a Western Union Agent in the area where you live, please call 1-800-325-6000. Then go to the nearest office and complete the Blue Quick Collect Payment Form. The sender must include the following information:
Pay To: FL Dept. of Corrections
Code City: FLDOC
State: FL
Account
Number: 123456DOE (DC number and last
Name no spaces or commas)
Attention: Inmate Name (Last Name, First Name)
The cost is $11.95 per transaction. If funds are sent before 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday, the funds will be posted to the inmate's account the next day.
Funds may also be sent using a credit card by calling Quick Collect by Phone at 1-800-634-3422 (Press 2 to send Q/C payment). The fee for calling is determined by the amount the sender would like to send. Also, additional bank charges may apply. Quick Collect by Phone is not offered if the call originates from one of the following states: Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York & Oklahoma.
Another option is visiting the web page at www.westernunion.com. The Web address is available in all 50 states and the fee is $12.95 and the maximum allowable to send is $400.00 and you can only send funds once within a seven-day period.
To check on a deposit, the sender should call Western Union Customer Service at 1-800-238-5772.
Flyers with this information will also be available in the visiting park at each institution.

Hi Kyla, Have you actually tried to do this from Australia? I know we can do the regular Western Union but I asked Western Union themselves and they told me that Quick Collect is not available from here. I actually got a friend in USA to do it for me from there.

I think we can do it this way, and just put in the info that they have given us above, I am going to try it out this week, so I will let you know, but I think thats the same way as normal wire transfer, exept we are transfering it to the inmate bank. Maybe I should give them a call and find out, where about in Aus are you, Im in Queensland

Sydney Rocks!! I lived there all my life until 2 years ago, Im in Hervey Bay and hate it. I am doing that thing tomorrow, I will let you know if I can find that blue form, if not, Im gonna have to do it the western union money order again at the post office, either way, when Im done I will post back and let you know. You probably have a better chance is Sydney doing it, theres actually a western union office in Martin Place that I believe does ALL kinds of western union. Let me know if that works if you try it and I cant, and if they have some of those blue forms we need, let me know, and I might get you to post me some to stupid Hervey Bay . Thanks

Nemesis, you can do it quick collect here, but its expensive. The lady at western union suggested the western union money order, cause it takes 7 days to get there and clears straight away. I think the QC thing is over $40
They do have the blue forms to that we need to send it.

Wow that is expensive. I think I will stick to getting someone else to do it for me in America, or maybe even send a money order myself next time. Thanks for the info!

Hey do you have any inmate trust slips?? If you dont PM me your address and I will post you some. The western union money order at the post office cost $.8.65, and you send it to the address at the back of that form with your mans details. They get it in around 6-7 days here (will be that for sure in Sydney) and put it straight in his account, as its a western union cheque. I have found that the quickest and easiest way to do it, and its not that costly. Have you tried that?? Its cheaper than the rates to wire transfer in the US then get someone to do it anyway, thats what I found. Let me know if you needs some slips to do it, and ask when you write for him to send you some.

I managed to send a Quick Collect today (they call it Quick Pay) it only cost me $25 to send it. I didnt have to go to the city, any suburban newsagent that does Western Union will do it. Sure beats getting someone else to do it.
