This was in Cindy Adams' column today in the NY Post:
"I STARTED with a prisoner's item, I conclude with an item on prisoners. WorldCom sent the following letter to a customer July 29. It says, in part:
"Our records indicate you've received collect calls from an inmate at a facility of the New York State Department of Correction . . . Because of a billing error you have been undercharged . . ." It promises that come fall, the customer "will be charged the correct rate for collect calls from any inmate at a facility of the New York State Department of Correction" and "you will notice that charges for these calls will be higher beginning in October."
This note shows the great integrity of WorldCom executives who, whilst marching to the can, still have the gonads to increase rates for cons.
everyone please stop using MCI as your carrier they are raping us of our money. they say the money is used directly for prisoners and victims notification. bullshit. STOP USING IT>
i have started using a company that redirects the calls.
OUTSIDE CONNECTION IS THE GREATEST SERVICE. MY CALL ARE 60% LESS.

FOR $64.00 YOU CAN GET STARTED AFTER PAYING YOUR BILLS ON TIME FOR 7 MONTHS YOU GET $50 BACK. IT IS NOT A SCAM.
I JUST RECEIVED A BILL FOR 9 CALLS AT 183 MINUTES THE CALLS COST ME ONLY $31.00 WITH MCI THE SAME AMOUNT WOULD HAVE COST ME $80.00.
OMG Mich....thanks for that info! I SOOOO have to look into that, because now after Eddie being away 7mths the damn charges are starting to get away from me...
bastards!(to agree w/someone above)
Some may know from other posts that I have been fighting with MCI for over SIX WEEKS now. I have not received a call from my partner since August 3rd. Everytime I call MCI I get a different story. The Supervisors do not call you back and it is like pulling teeth to get one directly. I have had phone agents at MCI hang up on me more than once. The one thing that you should know is that I have never been rude, never raised my voice, never blamed anyone for anything, I am always asking for their help to rectify the situation. I record notes on each call including who I spoke to and what they say. A particular agent will tell me one stroy one day and I get them again the next week and they contradict themselves and when I point that out they don't know what to say. In short, I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company and am losing faith in them completely. If I had any faith to begin with.
I think that the best route is to set up a local line with Remote Call Forwarding - do it yourself directly and don't use one of the middle companys to do this. If enough of us did that then we would shut down the systems that currently rob us unfairly.
