I don't know how to start... best way to say it: I don't have a clue on how to get married in the US!
In my intro I have mentioned that Ernie and I never made it to our wedding- we were still planning to get married ASAP.
All I know is that I need to obtain a marriage license... what else do I have to do????
I don't have anyone else to ask, and now that he's locked up, I sure as hell don't know anything.
I'm not sure if we'll do this right away, but PLEASE (and I feel like a total dummy...)- I need step by step instructions!
I also read about the 'by proxy-thing"- does this apply for VA?
I would sooooooo much appreciate help here!

If you are getting married in VA I just did this 2 weeks ago. My husband had to talk to his counsler and fill out paperwork and have the warden approve it. Then the counsler called me asked me a few questions then the Prison Chaplin handeled it from there. All I had to do was go to the county court house on the day of our wedding and get the license which cost 30 dollars and bring it with me to prison. We were allowed to bring in the rings, guests, a camera and one un opnened roll of film. WE got a one hour visit afterwards and that is basically how it all goes in va anyway
if you need any help let me know and i will help as much as i can
OH my Lucrisid, we'll help you get info on this, but I think you should wait till Ernie get's home! Like I've told you, I don't think he will get much time and it will be so easier to plan a wedding when he is home!!
But we can find out for you..OK
and Tereasa CONGRADULATIONS!! I didn't know you were a newlywed! and wasn't this on the visit they almost cut short?? Did you post about your marriage...I'll go hunt it down!!
I am just thinking ahead of time- in case he has to stay there for a long time...
